This is what my real life has become:
My day of drama centered around the theft of half my basil plants. >>:[
You see, vayshti kindly gave me a funky herb planter with basil, chives and parsely. (No, not the magic herbs, good lord people!) I had them next to the empty pot which I swear I will fill with something other than dirt one of these days, and the rosemary plant. I went out today to water my plants and lo, half my basil plants were GONE.
Needless to say, I was enraged. I have five possibly culprits to choose from, but they are not getting another go at my basil plants, oh no, preciousssss. I moved them inside, first to the shower while I pondered where to put them, and then I put them on my kitchen window sill. Someone will pay for this travesty. And if I see any of my neighbors with suspicous looking pot plants on their balconies or by their front doors, I am stealing half of them. I feel so passionately about this occurence, that I am tempted to drag out the discordant piano, find some freeform jazz, and babble totally unrelated phrases over the top of it, concluding my expression of passion with some singing that a cat would be gratified by. And then I will record it on Four track and be Viggo II.
In unrelated personal plant woe news, Adelaide is on day one of what is predicted to be a 14 day heat wave. O_O Pity us living here, because today was 38oC, and the lowest the temperature is predicted to reach in the next 14 days is 30oC.
Plans for this evening were cancelled due to incredible heat factor and the fact that none of us have airconditioning, only pissing little fans. Yep, you read that right. I'm sitting here with a desk fan and no aircon. I only know one person apart from my dad who has aircon.
We are melting, here in SA. Soon, there will be heat rage related violence. I'm not kidding, it happens. And oh look - the first bush fire of the season is being battled even as we speak, while NSW is once again in the process of being swamped in fire, burning what little unburnt bushland wasn't destroyed last time...which was little over 3 weeks ago.
So. We are in a drought. Bushfires are at an all time high. People are stealing basil plants from their neighbors. And still, Bush wants to bomb Iraq when clearly there are more important things to be concerned about. I mean - BASIL.
As someone once said: "Weep for the future. Weep for the basil."
I wrote a poem.
Ahem.
star: I am going to write poetry.
star: Basil,
star: I knew you
star: For such a short time.
star: The cat
vayshti: you were not faulty
star: Didn't like your smell.
star: But you tasted yum.
star: With cheese and chives.
star: Fin.
star: Ha.
vayshti: *gargle*
star: Must post that.
vayshti: agreed.
