Lorna Gerschwitz.
1915 - 2007
Cause of death: Natural causes.
Relationship: Grandmother.
My nanna passed away after a long, long life. She grew up in the suburb of Stirling in the Adelaide Hills, working as a nurse then as a cook at the Stirling District Hospital. She married and had three children, my mum, my aunt and my uncle. She lived in Stirling until she grew older and moved to an aged facility in Glenelg. When she was too ill to take care of herself, she moved again to Mitcham. She died peacefully after a long illness and was buried in the Aldgate-Stirling Cemetery in the Adelaide Hills in 2007, in the Atkinson-Gerschwitz family plot.

'Pav'
1963 - 1998 (approx).
Cause of death: Overdose.
Relationship: Friend.
I met Pav through friends in the Adelaide Music scene. He was a very good friend to me especially during my late teens. I found out a few years ago that he died.

Peter Birkhill.
1967 - 1995 (approx).
Relationship: Friend.
Cause of death: Suicide. (Asphixiation in his car.)
Peter was a singer in a local band and also tutored me in Matric economics. He and his wife are survived by their children. He was a good friend to me and managed to keep me from failing economics - just. It wasn't his fault that I sucked at the subject, he was a good teacher and made the very incomprehensible less so.

Juliana Stephens (nee Verbanac).
1968 - 2008.
Relationship: Friend.
Cause of death: Cancer.
I met Juliana when I was 14, through our mutual love of the band, The Damned. It was through her that I met so many amazing people. We lost contact over time. We were in a band together for a short while, called Scribe, which was comprised of all the punk/alternative fanzine writers in Adelaide. She played guitar. She survived two different types of cancer before dying from a third in early 2008. She was a tough cookie and managed to do everything she wanted to before she passed away. She is survived by a sister, Vesna, and her husband, Jeff.

Gary Aberley.
1972 - 2007.
Relationship: School friend.
Cause of death: bowel cancer.
Gary was an athelete in the disabled olympics. He attended AHS and was in my year. He is remembered by us who were in school with him as being friendly and always having a ready and warm smile and being kind to everyone. He was an excellent athlete and generally a talented all-rounder, both academically and as a sportsman.

Tycho Poole.
1973 - 1989.
Relationship: School friend.
Cause of death: Suicide. Hung himself in Bonython Park.
Tycho was a year younger and went to AHS. The year after I left high school, he was found dead in Bonython Park by the police on their way to work. The reason for his suicide is unknown.

These people are people that I remember with fondness. This small page is my tiny tribute to their memories.
